Dear Friends of Urban Children,

We at Frontline Outreach invite you to join us in the Power of Friendship for Orlando's urban children. This year marks the 13th year of a remarkable partnership between businesses and government-—a partnership dedicated to the betterment of our city's most precious resources with their boundless potential.

State Representative Bill Sublette and the Downtown Kiwanis created this partnership in 1994 when they initiated a benefit luncheon for children. Since then, the partnership has raised nearly one million dollars. This year, our goal is to collect $200,000 for early-childhood and college scholarships and construction improvements on our facility.

In recent years we have equipped more than 100 high school students for leadership through our Urban All American Leadership Initiative. Eighty percent of our students have pursued post-secondary educations and skill trades since 1998. Thanks to gifts given at the luncheon, we've been able to fully transform the Frontline campus. Most importantly, more than 100 preschool students are being equipped to enter school ready because they have a first-rate facility and scholarships that defray costs for some of them. Your commitment is developing the next generation of leaders.

As in the past, this year’s luncheon on October 5 will feature our elected officials as servers/hosts. We traditionally serve 400 corporate sponsors in this efficient and inspirational one-hour noon event. This year we also welcome members of Frontline’s Circle of Friends, a group of volunteers and donors who are leading the way by learning, serving and giving.

We are privileged to have Carl C. Dalstrom, CEO and President of USA Funds, as this year’s honorary host. USA Funds® is a nonprofit corporation working to enhance postsecondary-education preparedness, access and success by providing financial services. The organization was established in 1960 to help families finance rising college costs; it has grown to become the nation's largest guarantor of educational loans.

Please follow the website links to join us in this year’s Power of Friendship Luncheon. Your participation will help us succeed in our quest to be one of America's greatest urban ministries. We need you to reach this new milestone. And the children of urban Orlando need us all.

Thank you for all you have already helped us accomplish!  See you in October.
