Florida House Of Representatives
Representative Dean Cannon
District 35

Dear Colleagues:

Once again, I invite you to join me in serving Frontline Outreach at the Power of Friendship Luncheon to benefit urban children. The luncheon is set for October 3, 2008 at 3000 C.R. Smith Street. This marks the fourteenth year for the event and the all-important participation by elected officials.

Your support has been helping Frontline Outreach become one of America’s greatest urban ministries. You have helped them create a great team that is providing great service and is equipping great people to build great communities.

Frontline is a faith-based organization that provides urban kids with educational, leadership and character-development programs starting with preschool. And with its 40-year history of service to urban youth, Frontline now excels in its mission of preparing tomorrow’s leaders for success and service.

This year, Frontline built a new playground, basketball courts, and upgraded key areas of the building thanks to commitments from the City of Orlando, L2 Studios, the Kiwanis Club of Orlando Foundation, CNL and Ground Level Construction totaling $250,000. USA Funds committed $150,000 to Orlando’s youth through Frontline. Their partnership, along with those of State Farm Insurance, Girl Friends Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta, Inc. recently put $27,000 in scholarships into the hands of seniors at Jones High School. Our partnership with the Florida Department of Community Affairs is making it possible to develop 100 more urban leaders in Frontline’s Summer Leadership Academy.

Results of Frontline’s service to nearly 500 children annually have earned them many awards, including Bank of America’s 2005 Neighborhood Builder Award.

I hope you will join fellow legislators and this year’s hosts, Duane Kuck, President and CEO and Tim Kuck, Executive Vice President and COO of Regal Marine, for 60 minutes of service that can make a lifetime of difference for urban children.

Please lend your name to this event and plan to arrive at 11:30 a.m. for the noon meal.  You will serve a 30-minute shift and the event will end by 1:00pm. Your online registration at www.fl-o.org is requested by August 18th and will ensure that your name appears in this year's printed material. Please call In the Event, Inc. at 407-839-8811 or email them at intheevent@bellsouth.net if you have questions.

Respectfully serving with you,

Dean Cannon/Event Chair
